Summary
Compliance vendors sometimes make grand claims about what they can deliver, and this video draws a line between a commitment and a promise as a way of framing what dealers should expect from any company they trust with their compliance program. Recorded the day after a presidential election, the speaker uses the political moment as a backdrop to talk about uncertainty around policy areas like tariffs, noting that dealers shouldn't expect dramatic near-term disruption to their businesses from those changes.
The core message for a dealership is about accountability from a service provider: a promise is something you deliver on, a commitment is doing everything possible to get there. He promises dealers they'll get strong compliance support if they engage ARMP, and commits that the company will do everything in its power to achieve the best outcome for the dealer's business. For a dealership principal or GM evaluating compliance partners, the distinction is offered as a standard to hold any vendor to, including ARMP itself.

Reflecting on the 2016 election
Hi, my name is Terry Dortch. I'm with Automotive Risk Management Partners. Today is Wednesday, November 6th. Yes, we have a new president today, Donald Trump. A lot of people didn't think he'd make it. He did. And I'm going to tell you right now, I don't know about you, I'm glad this race is over. It's got to be one of the ugliest, most bizarre races I've ever seen in political history. And just so you know, I was a political science major in college at one point. It was bizarre, this whole race.
Promises versus commitments
But a couple things came out of it. I hope, I hope that Donald Trump follows through on many of his commitments, and I call them commitments, not promises, for a couple of reasons. There's a distinction in my head. A promise is something that you're going to deliver on. A promise is something that has a lot of meat to it, and you know you're going to put your, put your mouth there. I mean, everything's coming out of there. A commitment is something that says, hey, you know what, here's where I want to go with this. I'm going to do everything possible to get us there.
Trump's commitments and dealer uncertainty
Donald Trump made a lot of commitments. Those commitments around tariffs, around, you know, how he wants to structure the, you know, there's going to be some, there's going to be some things come about. Some of it's going to be good, some of it may not be. We don't know until we get there, right? I can tell you this much, I know a lot of you who may be a little leery because of the, you know, the tariffs and things like, I don't think you're going to sell your businesses tomorrow. I mean, there's more opium right now than anything.
ARMP's promise and commitment to dealers
But the structure, the reason that I'm bringing this up, is because I'm here to make a promise to you. I'm going to promise you that you'll get the best compliance company in the business if you talk to us. That's not a commitment, that's a promise. I'm going to make a commitment to you that we at Automotive Risk Management Partners will do everything within our power to achieve the best that we can for you and your business. Please give us a call, information is right here on the screen. Thanks.
