Real-Time Cyber Threat Detection With Ridgeback Network Defenses
Key takeaways
- Ridgeback Network Defenses is a cyber security software platform being introduced to dealers by Automotive Risk Management Partners.
- The platform provides a real-time look at a dealership's network with no latency, unlike a port scan, vulnerability scan, or pen test performed at an earlier point in time.
- The system deploys phantoms designed to disrupt hackers attempting to enter the network, taking an offensive approach rather than a purely defensive one.
- Dealers can create alerts and policies around the system's activity to manage their cyber security.
- Dealers with an internal IT team or an MSSP should bring them together so ARMP can introduce the Ridgeback software to them.
Summary
Real-time network monitoring is presented as a step beyond standard cyber security tools like CrowdStrike, built around a platform called Ridgeback Network Defenses. Rather than relying on a port scan, vulnerability scan, or penetration test run days or weeks earlier, the system watches network activity as it happens, with no latency, so a dealership sees what is occurring on its network today rather than a snapshot from the past. It works by deploying decoys, described as phantoms, that disrupt hackers attempting to move through the system, while also generating alerts and letting dealers set policies around how threats are handled.
For a dealership, this means cyber security shifts from periodic checkups to continuous, active defense, which matters given how much sensitive customer and financial data dealers hold. Stores with an internal IT team or an outside MSSP are encouraged to bring them into the conversation so they can evaluate the platform together rather than treating it as a replacement decision made in isolation. Dealers are pointed to look up Ridgeback Network Defenses directly and to contact ARMP for more detail on bringing this software into their operation.

Introducing new cybersecurity software
Hi, my name is Terry Dortch. I'm with Automotive Risk Management Partners. I want to talk to you today about cyber security. A week or so ago I put out a little video that kind of introduced what we were going to be doing as far as some new software that we're going to bring out to our dealers around cyber security. I want to dig a little deeper into that today, give you a little more of a rundown on what it is.
What Ridgeback Network Defenses is
The company I'm talking about is Ridgeback Network Defenses. Ridgeback Network Defenses is a software platform that is next generation, leaps and bounds here. If you're, if everybody out there's familiar with CrowdStrike, this blows CrowdStrike away. It's a platform and a system that can be brought to you, the dealer, that will fundamentally change the way you handle your cyber security. If you have an internal team, if you have an MSSP doing it, you need to get them together. Let us introduce this software to them.
Real-time defense and phantom deployment
It's a real-time look at your network. There's no latency involved. It's a set of defenses, it really takes the offense in cyber security, and the way that it does that is it deploys several phantoms that would disrupt any type of hacker that was coming into your system. At the same time, it creates scenarios where you can be alerted. There's ways to create policies around it. There's a whole system that you really need to look at here.
Real-time monitoring versus scans and pen tests
And the key to all of this is it's not a port scan, or a vulnerability scan, or a pen test that was ran six days ago or last month. It's based on real-time activity that's going on in your network today. It's so much more robust than anything you've ever looked at.
Call to action and next steps
You need to give us a call. The information's here on the screen, and you know what, look up Ridgeback Network Defenses online. You'll find there's a website on them, you can see what their software is, and you can even talk to them. I mean, it's a small company, they're a group of guys that have put together one hell of a program. Anyway, give us a call. Take care.
Questions this video answers
What is Ridgeback Network Defenses and how is it different from other cybersecurity tools?
Ridgeback Network Defenses is a next-generation cybersecurity software platform that Terry Dortch says goes beyond tools like CrowdStrike. It gives a real-time, no-latency view of network activity and deploys phantoms to disrupt hackers, rather than relying on past scans or tests.
How does Ridgeback detect threats compared to a vulnerability scan or pen test?
Unlike a port scan, vulnerability scan, or pen test that reflects a snapshot from days or weeks ago, Ridgeback is based on real-time activity happening in the network today, which the speaker describes as far more reliable than those older methods.
Do dealers need to replace their existing IT team or MSSP to use this platform?
No, the speaker suggests dealers with an internal team or an MSSP should get them together with ARMP so the software can be introduced to them, rather than positioning it as a replacement.
